Can I use acrylic paint as nail polish?

I have acrylic paint, and im wondering if it can be used as a substitute for nail polish. Can I use acrylic paint as nail polish?
it will peel and get scratched easily. it also will have a matte (in a bad way) not refined polished look. It will probably be pretty obvious that its paint too. get cruddy around your cuticiles lol and the texture is just way off. i dont suggest it, but hey..i do rando things like such when im bored. i would say ';i was bored'; is an acceptable reason :PCan I use acrylic paint as nail polish?
It won't have a very nice finish and it will chip super easy. Acrylic paint is great for design work on the nails, provided that you use a clear top coat, but as a stand alone nail polish it's terrible.
it will come off too easily.... i think it will only last a few days at most

  • Does anyone know what to buy to make the acrylic nail stay on?

I do my own nails and they look great but only stay on about 4 days and then come off. I have used a primer before making the nail but that didn't help. When I have a professional do my nails they don't come off, so what should I do? I can't afford to have someone else do my nails. Besides I love to do them myself except the fact they don't stay on!!Does anyone know what to buy to make the acrylic nail stay on?
The key to long lasting nails is proper nail preperation prior to the application of acrylic. It's essential to do the prep work. You cannot simply apply primer and expect the nails to last because they won't. While I don't blame you for wanting to save money doing them yourself - or for whatever reason you do them yourself, but this is one of the reasons why they have schools for becoming a nail technician. So many people incorrectly believe that they can go and get the supplies, or some little kit somewhere, come home, and do great nails. It's not as easy as it looks, and if you are not careful, you may end up doing more harm than good to yourself. How? Well, contact dermatitis is just one way of the ways you can be harmed by this. That comes from overexposure of the skin to the chemicals used in acrylics. Actually, you can develop this condition with overexposure to just about any chemical, but acrylic monomers, primers, and even the polymers are definitely some of those chemicals which can, and often does cause this condition in many people. No, one does not get this overnight - it takes time. The amount of time varies for everyone. And once you have contact dermatitis from a particular chemical, you will always have it. The remedy? To avoid contact with the chemical which causes the allergic reaction. And that means no more acrylic nails - ever. I suggest learning how to do nails the right way before continuing to do them. Sorry if this is not what you wanted to hear, but thats just how it is. I did answer your question though. Proper preperation of the nail is a key element in the process of applying acrylic nails. If you skip over this, nails will lift, or 'pop' off in a matter of days, or sooner.

BTW, use primer VERY sparingly. One half ounce bottle is enough to do over 1,000 full sets of nails. If you are soaking your nails with it, you are using way too much. One brushful of primer - after wiping the brush on the side of the bottle to remove the excess, is enough for 7-10 nails. If your nails look 'wet' after applying primer, you are using too much of it.Does anyone know what to buy to make the acrylic nail stay on?
I have this same problem so this isn't an answer, but a ';you're not alone!'; I use a primer/bonder too and it still doesn't help.

Last week I cracked my acrylic nail & it started bleeding so I need to take it off without acetone. Any ideas?

Does acrylic overlay let nail polish stay on longer?

if so, how long? I like getting my nails polished but it always comes off so quickly, any tips to help it stay on?Does acrylic overlay let nail polish stay on longer?
Yes, it usually last's about 2 weeks or so depending on how much you do with your hands.. the acrylic helps the color stick to the nail better because the oil from your natural nail causes the polish to chil alot easier. I always get airbrushed french tips.. It stays for about 3 weeks and doesn't chip @ all=]Does acrylic overlay let nail polish stay on longer?
Nail varnish does not tend to chip or peel off acrylic nails but it will wear off the tip. The best way to avoid this is to apply a top coat every couple of days...this helps on your natural nails too
It does seem to stay on longer, but I think it is because you are more careful with your nails when they are done. Depends on what tasks you are doing.

I noticed by the end of the day that my nails had a orange tint to them, so I took of the clear coat, but the orange tint was still there. Has this happened to anyone? Should I go to another nail salon?I went to a nail salon and had acrylic white tips put on?
Go back and demand they fix them and demand your money back. I have had nails for 23 years and have NEVER had that experience. I have had bad experience and you need to hold them accountable. You also may need to switch nail salons. Ask around to friends or people that you see around town that nails look nice...find out where they go. Good luck!I went to a nail salon and had acrylic white tips put on?
Yeah...that once happened to me...when my nail turned an odd colour-but it faded after a few days

Artificial nail from drug store or acrylic nail?

What are the benefits of each or drawbacks. I hate the nails from the drugstore because i can never get them to stay on for more than a day which really bugs me. So i always get acrylic or gel nails when i need them done.Artificial nail from drug store or acrylic nail?
Well the drugsore ones look REALLY cheesy and yah they don'y stay on for very long...but acrylic's are kind of expensive...and they hurt if u want to take them off....plus the nail people always try to get me to give them more money just because i am 14 they think i am like an idiot that doesn't know how much stuff is...but they are pretty so it is worth the $ and RUDE nail people...Artificial nail from drug store or acrylic nail?
I get acrylic nails, they last about 3 weeks, and even if one falls out you can go for a touch up and its like 10$ and they re-do them all over again, you can get any design but the prices vary with the design. gel nails are nice too, its almost the same, its mostly the technique that changes.
acrylic nails help your nails grow but as you know healthier!artificial nails break off easily and they have to be just glued on that could mess up your cuticles and you'll have a lot of hang nails!

My friend got her nails done today with Sola, she was origionally supposed to get Gel but they said sola was better for people with short nails. I think you mean Solar.

I'm getting my nails done tomorrow. I've never heard of Solar, and I have short nails.

I don't know, I'll ask someone that works at the nail salon about it.

I have them on all my other nails, and am not having the same problem. I think I may be having an allergic reaction to the glue or nail or both , but wouldnt it happen to all the nails and not just one? It itchs like heck, and when I pulled the nail off it was all pink and oozing.I attached an acrylic nail to my toes using the glue provided. My toe is a huge blister now. What happened?
it could be an allergic reaction but it could also be some sort of infection...ask a doctorI attached an acrylic nail to my toes using the glue provided. My toe is a huge blister now. What happened?
i didnt know u could put those on ur toes.
I think from what you are saying that you are having an allergic reaction to the nail glue that you used. My advice is to remove it using acetone. then leave it alone for a few days and if everything you described persists then see a doc. Good luck.
well i have a question for you um did you ripe it off after the glue dried? because if you ripe it off then you get sore feet and your not suppose to put those on your toes!!!!! just saying

My acrylic nail fell off and i decided to wrap a bandaid on it before i went to bed?

when i woke up it was throbbing i think the circulation to my ring finger got cut off so i took off the bandaid immediately, its now 8 at night and the numbness hasnt gone away, what should i do?My acrylic nail fell off and i decided to wrap a bandaid on it before i went to bed?
i do nails myself so this just sounds like the nail was forcefully ripped off and when the acrylic nail is glued on, it is filed down close to the nail bed as much as possible. its very painfull when ripped off but if there is a blueish tint to your nail bed or when you squeeze the finger tip and the blood doesnt flow back within 2-3 seconds you may have loss circulation. but thats hardly even possible to lose circulation from a acrylic nail coming off. i wouldnt worry. try to go to sleep and the pain should be gone the next morningMy acrylic nail fell off and i decided to wrap a bandaid on it before i went to bed?
go see the doctor tomorrow - you may have done some damage to your nail bed depending on how forcefully the nail popped off.
    put it in ice

Does soaking acrylic nails in nail polish remover get them off?

As suggested already, use pure acetone. Nail polish remover will work, but it takes much longer. Yes, salons can do it for you, but many salons improperly remove them. Many will force them off and that is not the way to remove acrylic nails - ever. But so very many people seem to think that hey, its a nail salon, so they must be doing this the right way. That is a false assumption to make. Never tear them off, pry them off, or in any other way force them off. This will damage your natural nails. Soaking them in pure acetone is the safest, and most efficient method for the removal of acrylic nails. If you had a UV sealer or topcoat applied to your nails at the salon, you must remove this prior to soaking them. Do this by using a 180 or 240 grit nail file and file the surface of your nails until it has been completely removed. Do not over file your nails as this may damage your natural nails in the event you file too much of the acrylic off by accident. UV gel sealers or topcoats are easily filed off, and it only takes a moment to do so. If you were to leave this on your nails, it would take forever to remove them since acetone does not remove it.Does soaking acrylic nails in nail polish remover get them off?
If it is pure acetone it is easier for soaking than some other removers. Thats what the salons use. Soak for as long as you can (at least 15 mins).. the longer you soak the easier they come off. Make sure you have at least an 80/80 (coarse for acrylics) nail file and file away the acrylic as it softens. Be prepared for it to take at least an hour. Don't rush and get impatient cos you will WRECK your own nails underneath. Another trick is putting the acetone in little bowls which are in larger bowls with a little hot water (if that makes sense?!- the water in the big bowl and acetone in the little ones.. not mixed) the heat seems to make the acetone work faster... don't use boiling water though. Once you are done give your hands and cuticles a mask and moisturise and some cuticle oil rubbed into cuticles and nails. You will probably have to keep your nails short for a while until they recover. All this said you are probably better off going to a salon... they can do it in a fraction of the time and have all the aftercare products :)Does soaking acrylic nails in nail polish remover get them off?
No, do not soak it in nail polish remover. A lot of people will do that to try and get them off but it takes a lot longer. You can go to any beauty store and they will have bottles of acetone that you can buy and it will get each nail off in almost twenty seconds. It goes a lot faster. So just buy acetone. It should be pretty cheap.
Yeah but it will takes a really really long time. and then you might still have to ruin your nails underneath by peeling them off. Your best bet is to go back to the salon to get them off. Its not that expensive like 5 to 15 dollars.
yea that's what the instructions tell you to do
    yes

I use pure acetone to remove polish. It doesn't hurt the acrylic at all. You would have to soak the nails in the acetone for it to cause damage.

Why does nail polish chip if painted on natural nails but don't on acrylic nails?

I have wore acrylic nails for 10 years and always kept them polished and they were fine for 2 weeks or more. I recently got a fungus on all my nails and they broke off really short. I have treated them for months now and they are now growing on their own and look really nice. I am not going to put acrylics back on but I am having problems with nail polish staying on for even two days without it chipping? I use base coat and top coat? What could be the problem? Thanks. Why does nail polish chip if painted on natural nails but don't on acrylic nails?
Because you have natural oils that come through the surface of your nails, you can't stop it. sorry. Try using a basecoat before the polish it may help for a few more days. Why does nail polish chip if painted on natural nails but don't on acrylic nails?
Apply the base coat first and let it dry thoroughly. Then apply a very thin layer of polish and let it dry. Next put another very thin layer of color and let it dry. Spray your nails with the instant nail polish dry stuff. Put clear polish over everything. Apply another layer of clear polish every day until you change colors.
I've never had any luck with polish staying on...either on acrylic or my natural nails. I would suggest asking the nail salon what brand of polish and top coat they used on your acrylic nails. Maybe the polish they used was a better quality.

It mostly depends on how you get them taken off. If you just snap them off than the top layers of the nail will be taken off with fake ones and cause them to be soft. However, getting them taken off at a nail salon would be much safer and your nails shouldn't end up soft.Ive had acrylic nails on for 3 and a 1/2 months But Im afraid when I take them off my real nail will be ruined?

there is some inforation at flexinail.com about how to make sure your nails recover nicely from artificial nails....

I've been using a lipid based oil that penetrates the cuticle.... it doesn't fix it immediately... but it makes the new growth awesome. you can check out the site www.flexinail.com for some info on nail growth etc and take a look at the products they are offering.

    from that site:

FlexiNail is an intense and unique, lipid-rich conditioning complex that nourishes and hydrates your nails. It utilizes a blend of natural oils, organic based botanical ingredients and specially developed scientific compounds for a product we unconditionally guarantee for a full 100 days.

    .

    People write and ask, ';Why is it called FlexiNail, don't I want hard nails?';

Actually, strong, healthy looking nails are flexible and able to bounce back when stressed - not chip, break or peel. FlexiNail is designed to augment your nail's natural organic state.

anyways, i saw all the testimonials and the video and i thought i'd try it since it had a money back guarantee and i had tried everything else...
how did you get them to stay on for 3 1/2 months?

did you have a couple fill-ins?

usually they stay on about a month or so.

but either way, your natural nails will be fine.

as long as you DO NOT PRY THA ACRYLiC NAiLS OFF.

let them fall off by themselves.you may have a little indent in your natural nail from tha acrylics being there, but once your nails grow more, it will grow right out, so its not permanent.

last but not least, your natural nails will be really long when tha acrylics come off, so trim them if you like and get clear nailpolish. i use tha one is called 'hard as nails' it will keep your nails strong.
Even if you only had them on for 1 day, your nails will be ruined. They sand down your nails and weaken them before they even apply the acrylic nails. Once you have the acrylics removed, you'll have to grow out the nail that is there, before you see healthy nails. Leaving them on too long can cause fungus, which is really hard to get rid of, so don't keep them on too much longer.
3 and a half months well done

mines were on for a week and i picked them off because the annoyed me!

my nails were perfectly fine when i took mines off.

just place your hand in hot water and get some nail varnish remover that contains acetone and peel them off.

your nails will be soft once you take them off so its best to get them off then file away any bits left on, buff your nails then put on nail polish!

    x
soak them off in acetone. there is a good chance your natural nail will look pretty bad under there because when they put acrylic nails on they have to roughen up the natural nail to get the acrylic to adhere. over time the nail gets quite thin. they will be fine once your nails grow completely out.
Yesss!!! When u take them off they will peel layers of your real nail off. They will be very brittle and and look bad for awhile. After you take them off use a buffer to smooth out the ridges you will have and keep a thick clear coat of polish on them. You will just have to wait until your nails grow out enough before the damaged nails will be gone!Trust me, been there done that :) Good Luck!
This stuff will save your nails...trust me!!!

Are putting acrylic nail from the store dangerous?

Like could make you get a diseas or take your nails offAre putting acrylic nail from the store dangerous?
you can't buy acrylic nails at the store and put them on yourself, you need to go to a nail salon or spa to get them done professionally. if you do get them done at a salon there is def. a chance of getting a fungus but nothing serious, as long as everything they use is sanitize properly. Are putting acrylic nail from the store dangerous?
i dont think so, i have never heard that. if you could get a disease from it, those company's that sell those nails would be getting suied, so unless on the box it says CATION: MAY CAUSE DANGEROUS NAIL DISEASE, i think your safe.
no they are just really hard to do..
Acrylic nails bond to your natural nail bed, they can leave your nails very damaged if done correctly. I suggest if you really want them have a professional do them, and remove them. Some things are better left to professionals, I mean would you cut your own hair?
Most places are very clean so it is rare but you could get a nail fungus if the shop isn't clean or they don't clean the tools good enough. To be sure check out the shop before you get your nails but on!
i dnt knw whether they will do that but my friend who is 100% gurly gurl tried puttin them on me and they hurt like crap and leave your nails pink for about 3 days so i dnt suggest using them plus they r a little white - trash looking.

Question about a broken acrylic nail?

I have NICE real nails and I don't want to yank the acrylic ones off..they ruined my nails to get more money from me and I just want my own nails back HELPHow can I get acrylic off my nails without going back to the expensive nail place?
Acetone....you can find it pure in the beauty supply places....soak in for about 20-30 minutes, you will have to rub a lil, but it will turn to goo...good luckHow can I get acrylic off my nails without going back to the expensive nail place?
Use pure acetone in a glass bowl and put hands in and soak off the acrylic. This process can take about an hour, and sometimes it can take more time if the Asian salon put them on. They use different acrylic. Soak for 10 minutes and then scrape off and repeat.
Another way is HOT water. Soak your hands for a few minutes then peel away!!! But I mean pretty hot water and you have to do this for every couple nails. After you are done apply a clear layer of nail polish for strength.

    Good luck.

    Sam
Yeah. I [insert correct number here]th the acetone. It will disolve it. Make sure you wash your hands well and put cocoa butter or vaseline on your hands when you're done.

Does it hurt if you file your teeth with an acrylic nail file?

this is a really weird question but my friend is kind of vampire obsessed and wants to file her cat teeth really sharp... well sharper and she wants to know if it will hurt i told it will but i just said that so she wont do it lol she wants to do it with this acrylic nail file which is used to file fake nails obvs n im pretty sure this will hurt like hell lolDoes it hurt if you file your teeth with an acrylic nail file?
More than anything she will be damaging her teeth, making them more vulnerable to decay. Having sharp teeth might seem appealing, but biting yourself by accident (probably consistently) would not be pleasant.

Bad idea, all around.Does it hurt if you file your teeth with an acrylic nail file?
    Yes it will hurt alot.

tooth in hockey and it kills

And it will probably hurt more in 3 months

when everybody is over this vampire crap.
Yes. That's dangerous. If you want to change the appearance of your teeth, go to the dentist.
    Yes. Don't do that.
it dosnt hurt.. my friend did it, it just damaged her teeth.. and they've been very sensatvie since.
why dont you try it and find out? haha jk dont do that. yes it will hurt

How do you remove a stain on airbrush french acrylic nail?

a yellow stain on my new nails, from rubber garden gloves, i dont want to go back to the salon... please helpHow do you remove a stain on airbrush french acrylic nail?
I have french acrylic and I think you will have to go back to the salon and have that nail repainted. The only other option is to just paint over it, a sheer white may still show the yellow so if you have your toes done, paint the same color and match, if not just go with something light and pretty. I have several shades of tan and pink, very light and neutral, I use to freshen up that second week if the french starts to look rough. How do you remove a stain on airbrush french acrylic nail?
Have you tried taking a Q-tip and dipping it in non-acetone nail polish remover?? After doing it rinse the area off with water so that it doesn't remove the paint.

Are gel nail with tip extensions as strong as acrylic nails?

I have always had my nails done and always had the acrylic type as the gel was never offered to me...i have been researching on the internet about the differences between the two and it seems resounding that the gel nails are better for your natural nails. I was wondering how durable the gel nails are though and can you still have them over a tip extension as my natural nails are quite short. Are gel nail with tip extensions as strong as acrylic nails?
they arent as strong but they arent really weak

Is there any way to cure nail fungus while an acrylic nail is still attached?

The acrylic nail is a porous plastic, that retains bacterias, germs and fungus. Once any of these are in contact with the acrylic, they are there to stay. Get rid of the acrylic nail and save your real nail. soaking for ten minutes 3 times a day in Hydrogen peroxide is one of the best ways to kill nail fungus without the expensive over the counter solutions. depends on just how serious the fungus is in the nail.

These acrylic nails are soooo gorgeous and luxurious, but they come with a horrible price to pay later, that if left untreated could just turn your nails into something even plastic nails cant hide.

These nails salons that give the pedicure and manicure's do ever so much need more regulating by health departments, as the skin diseases and fungus amoungus is highly contaigous and requires a lot of disinfectant of tools and spa.

P.S. not to mention with that infected acrylic nail still attached, should you accidently scratch someone or yourself, it will cause infection to the open scratch. Is there any way to cure nail fungus while an acrylic nail is still attached?
No..You have to take the nail off.Is there any way to cure nail fungus while an acrylic nail is still attached?
    Bleach.
nope, just gotta let it grow out.

Nail technicians.....can you apply a set of acrylic nails on a client that bites their nails?

I have started biting my nails again. I'd like to stop. I'm thinking that maybe if I have nice nails again that I'll break my habit. Again. Can I get them if I bite my nails way down? I'm not concerned about biting the fake nails. I'm just wondering if I can get fake nails if I hardly have real nails to apply them to.Nail technicians.....can you apply a set of acrylic nails on a client that bites their nails?
You can actually get fake nails even if you bite your nails down to nothing. I've gotten them and I am a serious nail bitter, but the only real problem i've had with them is that they bbreak off easier if your nails are short to begin with. But other then that, the nail place should be able to able either acrylic nails or a gel set. Remember that gel and fiberglass are more expensive but are actually stronger and better quality then the acrylic.Nail technicians.....can you apply a set of acrylic nails on a client that bites their nails?
no. most wont be able to build a nail onto it. if you can get bairly a free nail and you should be good. there is some polish you can get that is clear and has a horrible tast that is for people who bite there nails..hope it helps

Acrylic nails on very small nail beds?

I love getting my nails done at the salon (acrylics) but they come off very quickly, within the first or rarely the second week . . Is there something I can do to fix this? Or an alternative to the acrylics (besides growing them out). The problem is not that I bite my nails, the problem is that my nail beds are very short and small, therefore the acrylic nails peel off and always look stubby.Acrylic nails on very small nail beds?
Its not that your nails are too short and small, its most likely the technician, the products and or the application of the acrylic that is causing this problem. If you are going to a discount salon, don't. Go somewhere that knows how to do nails, and uses high quality products. It will cost you more, but it will be so worth it.Acrylic nails on very small nail beds?
I've also got small nail beds and thin nails, but my acrylic nails usually stay on into the third week. You might want to try another nail salon and see if that makes a difference because your nails shouldn't be coming off the first week. I've noticed that the nails seem to come off more quickly if they are too thick, so they really need to be filed thin once they're on. You also might try wearing rubber gloves when you do dishes to keep your nails from prolonged exposure to water. Acrylic nails really do make a huge difference to the look of your hands if you have small nail beds.
maybe you should try a different nail salon and see how that works out for you because they might be using cheap material.....

When I get my nails done they last AT LEAST a month, it seems very weird that yours last about a week or two...try going to a different salon, and if it doesn't work, try putting an extra layer of clear nail polish to secure everything...if you can, try putting on extra layers about once every 3 days or so.

I am really scared of getting fungus and need a talented, clean and reasonable place to go to. Either in the Philly area or Woodbury, NJ or surrounding area. I am willing to drive farther if thats what it takes! Any suggestions would be great!!! I get a french tip and like a nice nail that isn't too thick but doesn't break easily either. Will regular nail polish remove air brush from acrylic nails?

Yes, but be careful not to use too much as it can damage the acrylic nail itself. :)

Can I remove acrylic nail extensions myself, at home and if so how?

I used to prise the glue on one's off with a pin (I know!)Can I remove acrylic nail extensions myself, at home and if so how?
yep you can. it takes quite a long time usually between 30 and 60 mins it depends how thick the enhancments are and also what products have been used.

    you will need:

    * a bottle of acetone, which you can get from your local chemist (they may have some labelled up as tip remover)

    * 1 or 2 bowls (glass or ceramic preferably as some plastics will dissolve along with your nails!)

    * a roll of kitchen roll

    * a matt of newspaper to place the bowls on as the acetone will take the varnish off your table

    *cuticle oil (or olive oil)

    * a set of natural nail buffers

    what you need to do:

    1. pour a good amount of the acetone into the bowl / bowls

    2. place your finger tips in to the acetone

    3. after a few minutes you will see the acrylic start to dissolve and go mushy on the top

    4. use the kitchen roll to keep wiping the dissolved layer of acrylic off the top of your nails

    5. keep doing this until it has all dissolved and you are down to your natural nails

    6. your nails will be rough on top and will feel quite brittle from the acetone drying them out.

    7. apply a few drops of cuticle oil to your nails and massage into the nails

    8. using the natural nail buffers gently buff over your nails starting with the most course buffer and finishing with the smoothest

    9. you can either leave your nails naked or you can wash all the oil off your hands and apply a strengthening polish a really good one is 'Nail Envy' by OPI

** if you nails had been finished to a shine by having a layer of gel applied over the top (where a layer of gel is painted over the acrylic and then set under a UV lamp) you may have to buff the nails over before you soak them as some gels don't dissolve in acetone.

and never, ever, ever pull or prise nail enhancements off!!!! you will completely knacker your own nails!!!!Can I remove acrylic nail extensions myself, at home and if so how?

I'm a cosmetologist. Your best bet is to go to the store and get acetone nailpolish remover. Put it in a bowl with marbles, or something else small and round, and soak your finger in it. Move your fingers around because the marbles will jostle the acrylics loose.
Yes, you can. I broke them in half, YOU HAVE TO VERY careful not to break your nail underneath, it worked for me.
    i dont know
i did it a few weeks ago. it was reccommended to me to soak them in acetone. but truly i wouldn't try. i had to go and have them re-done to cover the damage i did to my nails. it was awful. so i would go and have them removed professionally.
soak them in acetone or u can get nail varnish remover with acetone in it but dont pull them off
the hottest water you can stand, put your nails in it. good luck!
get some nail polish remover normal 1 and soke ur nails in it it takes some time but it works.
no get them taken off professionaly, your ruin ur nails
you can use 100% acitone. soak them for about 30min then use a wood skewer to remove the acrylic.
hiya yep u can mix hot water and equal parts of nail varnish remover and it will shrink the nail x
i just bend them from the side till they come loose
Ehhh, I'm sure you could but I would go to nail salon. Just to make sure!
What you do is soak your nails in acetone or nail polish remover for a couple of minutes...after that use nail clippers or cuticle cutters to start cutting off...continue that process until all your nails are off...and when you are finished buff and file your own nails SO they wont look sooo dull!
I used nail polish remover soaked my nails in it and they came off quite easily, make sure it's got acetone in it
Yes you can. However, whatever way you take the acrylic off your nail is still damaged....your nails will have ridges!!!
hello!! i soaked some cotton wool in nail varnish remover wrapped them round my nails then applied tin foil over the top for 1 hour. came off no probs at all
Yes. Purchase acetone and place in a glass or metal bowl with some cotton pads on the bottom. Soak your nails in the acetone while rubbing against the cotton. It will take about an hour but it's SO much healtheir than prying them off.

You will need a good manicure when they're finally off. Good luck!
you can remove acrylic nail extensions by soaking them in a small glass dish with pure acetone. Make sure it is enough to cover nails. Also make sure to cover hands with small towel while soaking , the heat removes them faster. You will see them melting , then you can scrape them off with sharp object. Then clean up your natural nails with non-acetone polish remover.
Yes you can remove them at home, all you have to do is soak them in Nail Polish Remover for a while, then they will come off. Trust me I've had fake nails like 6 times before! GOOD LUCK!
they have acrylic nail remove solution at your local drugstore, you'll have to soak your nails in this solution to get them loose...don't pull them off, you can cause damage to your real nails!!

How can i get my acrylic nail off without it hurting?

I got my nails done, like awhile ago.

and now i have 3 one still,

and i'm trying to get them off,

    but it hurts.

is there any way i can get them off, without it hurting? How can i get my acrylic nail off without it hurting?
yeah, you need to soak them in nail polish remover with acetone. you can soak a cotton ball in the remover and then put it on your nail and put foil over it to keep it in place. that's what we did at beauty school and that way you aren't stuck with your nails submerged.

hope that helps, good luck! :)How can i get my acrylic nail off without it hurting?
This happened to me too. Basically, what you do is if you have acetone or regular nail polish remover, just soak your fingers in them and i would eventually come off. Like it pops off your finger :) (y) If you have nailpolish remover thats good but if you have acetone its even better . hopefuly i helped :)
soak them in urine, with a dash of strained chicken baby food, add a tad of vegetable oil, one finely cut breadbin, a porcupine, a dash of peppermint struddel pie, and finished off with a pinch of cinnamon

    hey presto
If the nail polish remover doesn't work, you'll have to go to the nail place to get them to remove them. They are made to stay on, so it's gonna hurt if you try to pull them,
Soak them in nailpolish and acetone for a while ,it should come off by it'self or with a little push
soak them in nail polish with acetone.

edit... it will say -non acetone- on the bottle.. if it doesnt, then it usually isnt. only use it if it actually says it on the bottle :PI messed up the paint on my acrylic nails will i ruin them if i use regular nail polish remover?
You do not need to use non-acetone polish remover. Acetone based remover or even pure acetone is fine to use. You would have to soak the nails in it for quite awhile before it would do anything to the acrylic. Non-acetone remover doesn't work very well.
Well... maybe it depends on what type of acrylic it is (as in brand and such) but I've done that and the nails were fine. Maybe, you know, use as little as you can or something. But I'm sure they'll be fine.

It usually just says if it is or not... on the bottle, darling.
Oh can I relate! What I do is use a cotton ball and soak it good in y

the reg. remover. With a light touch just take a small amount

of polish off. Sometimes if you catch it before it dries it will smooth

out. But after it dries put a new coat on and it will look wonderful.

Yes, use a base coat so not to stain the acrylic and use non-acetone nail polish remover to remove polish because acetone remover might weaken your acrylic nails.

You can find it in the beauty supply. Can i use nail polish remover on acrylic nails?
I use pure acetone to remove polish. It works cleaner and faster. For the acetone to do any damage to the acrylics you would have to soak the nails in it for quite a while. So go ahead to change your polish! It's ok!
Only if you use non-accetone remover. You can buy it anywhere!!
Yes you can, but get the no acetone kind unless you want your nails to melt.

The way we do them in the salon is:

Soak your nails in nail polish remover while scrapping then off (we use orange wood sticks) and continue doing this until all nails are removed.

It is better to use pure acetone nail polish remover you will get better results.

*Make sure you don't spill it on anything it can eat through most things and take the finish off of wood.

Can plastic and acrylic nails be moulded to fit the contour of the nail and if so how is this done?

can this be done at home?someone i know is a guitarist[professional]who is using a fake nail on the thumb only instead of using a pick-but it needs to be able to sit around the shape of the nail better..any ideas ?thanksCan plastic and acrylic nails be moulded to fit the contour of the nail and if so how is this done?
My friend bought a kit from walmart where she could do her own acrylics. You just have to glue the tip on and cut it/shape it how you want and then put on the acrylic. If you know anything about acrylics, its a powder that when you add water, it turns into gel and you shape it to your finger. I'm sure that would work well.

What is the best way to let my fingernails recover from years of acrylic nail wear?

If you have a Sally's Beauty Supply nearby [it's online, too], try Nail Life. The stuff is amazing! I did the same thing to my nails for a very long time and, when I took them off, I had thin nails that got caught onto everything.

Nail Life is applied once a day for 5 days, then remove it and continue the cycle for 5 more days...removing and applying. Don't let it stay on for much longer than that, because it will also make your nails split. It's easy to use because it dries fast and costs about $8.00.

Keep your nails filed to the point where not much nail shows above the tip of your finger, or shorter. Once the damaged portion of the nails grow out, keep applying it for stronger, longer nails. Use it under a color and apply the Nail Life over the color the next day. What is the best way to let my fingernails recover from years of acrylic nail wear?

What are the bad effects on the nail plate from acrylic nails ? the damage and concequences?

Top quality acrylic nail products do not damage your nails. A bad tech is what ruins your nails, not the acrylic. If you are going to a discount salon (paying $25 or less for a full set) what would one expect anyway? Great nails for that cheap? It doesn't happen. For the person that said the nails created ridges in their nails: No, it was not the acrylic. It was an unskilled tech who overfiled the nail plate using a Dremel tool. These ridges are called 'rings of fire.' They almost always happen when people go to the discount salons and pay dirt cheap prices for their nails. You get what you pay for. If you pay for cheap nails, you will get cheap nails. Simple as that. Most of the people working in discount salons should not be doing nails in the first place since they don't really even know how to properly do them. What are the bad effects on the nail plate from acrylic nails ? the damage and concequences?

  • How do i remove my acrylic nails that i got done at the nail shop?

or what is the best way?there really gels. How do i remove my acrylic nails that i got done at the nail shop?
the best way to get them off is to soak them in some nail polish remover then clip them off with a nail clipper, that's the way my manicurist does for me.How do i remove my acrylic nails that i got done at the nail shop?
I use nail polish remover.. it takes a long time to soak them but it does not mess them up as much as pulling them off does.
Clip as much of the nail off as you can. Coat the skin around your nails with vaseline, then soak in pure acetone (from the beauty supply store) for 20-30 minutes. The nail material should start to dissolve and soften. Clip again and use small pliers or tweezers to pry the tip from your natural nail. Good luck--it's quite a job. Usually you can have them removed at the salon for about $20.
Go back to the salon and have them removed professionally so that as little damage as possible is done to the nails underneath. You don't want cracked, broken, split nails that can lead to pain and infection, even grow into the fingertip.
i've messed with mine a lot, even biting them off, or moving them around to get it to detach from my nails... your nail end up becoming paper thin... i don't get my nails done anymore lol but yeah, you should just wait for them to fall off
bit them than go to the nail shop and tell them to take them off
really you just have to wait until they fall off !
    Acetone
i'm almost sure they sell nail remover in stores. it comes in a small jar and you just soak your hands in it until the nails soften and then the nails come off. it's a little time consuming, but worth it if you want those bad boys off.

Acrylic Nail powder & liquid -- do they have to be the same brand?

Do the acrylic powder and liquid have to be the same brand? I still have liquid left but I want to try another brand of powder. Does it matter if they are from different brands?

Also, how do I clean my brush? I'm just a beginner and there's always a chunk of dried up acrylic stuff left on my brush and I end up having to get a new brush which is pretty expensive since I have to do that everytime. How do I clean the acrylic from the brush afterwards?Acrylic Nail powder %26amp; liquid -- do they have to be the same brand?
Acrylic nail powder and liquid do not absolutely have to be the same brand, however it is suggested. If you are going to mix and match you have to make sure that they are compatable BEFORE you try them on your clients. I recommend also using non-acid primer because it will help your adhesion as well, especially when mixing products. Please keep in mind, when manufacturers make their product they test them on their own products ( in other words they are designed to go together.Acrylic Nail powder %26amp; liquid -- do they have to be the same brand?

How do you remove acrylic nails wihtout going back to the nail salon?

Soak them in pure acetone for at least 30 minutes. Then you can scrape the softened acrylic off with an orange stick, or simply use paper towels to rub it off. If it doesn't all come off the first try, simply soak them for another 5-10 minutes and try again. Yes, you can use acetone polish remover, but pure acetone is more efficient for the removal of acrylic nails. One other thing - if you had a UV topcoat applied to your nails, this must be removed prior to soaking. Since UV gels are non-porous, they do not soak off in acetone. Just take a nail file and gently file the topcoat off of the entire nail. UV gels file easily, so it should come off easily.

Whatever you do, make sure you don't force the acrylic from your nails. This WILL cause damage to your natural nails. Have patience. It will come off on it's own.

I hope this helps! How do you remove acrylic nails wihtout going back to the nail salon?
Here's what it says in my mums Milady book::

To remove an Acrylic nail begin by soaking the nail in Pure Acetone, Use a Orangewood or a metal pusher to gently push off the softened acrylic nail, Repeat untill all acrylic has been removed NEVER try to pry the nails off, as it will damage the nail plate. How do you remove acrylic nails wihtout going back to the nail salon?
Finger nail polish remover with Acetone. Acetone is actually what weakens thems and helps them come off... its what the salons use.... Put the remover in a bowl and sit with your fingers in there for about half and hour... maybe more, depends on how good it was done and how long ago too... but it will take them off... after you soak, just start picking and pulling... that is EXACTLY what they do in the salons...
In walmart they sell acrylic nail removal solution in a little container. all you have to do is soak your nails in them, and they come right off.
There is an entire step by step process on ehow..

i guess u just peel em.... its best to go to the salon though...next time i wouldnt recoment getting acrylic nails cuz they wruwen ur real nails
if you soak them in nail polish remover the glue will loosen and you can pull them off without it hurting
Let them fall off on their own. That's what I do.

pick up your phone book and call around, but speaking professionally i would drive around and step inside and take a look around....you need to maake sure that they are a safe and professional nail salon....if you see too many neon signs offering nails and the tech is wearing a mask chances are you're in a nss salon(non standard salon)they only care about your money, they are not that friendly, nor professional, nor educated....i would go to a salon that is clean and professional and that has a tech that knows more about nails than slapping on tips and one who will educate you as the comsumer.... these days i hear too many horror stories about what has happened to customers when going to an unsafe tech... so please choose wisely
in the danbury mall they have a wonderful hair salon where they also do nails. It is great.

How can you tell that a nail tech is giving you gel nails instead of acrylic?

Because I wanted gel nails for the first time and found out later they were acrylic. How can you tell that a nail tech is giving you gel nails instead of acrylic?
Not sure because I never had mine done before but I do no that you should research and find the difference between them. My friend payed lots for gel nails (done at Cali Nails) and she was told a day after by another friend that once owned a nail salon that she had gotten acrylic nails put on. So she had payed more money for gel nails and they gave her acrylic nails. Waht a rip off eh? So just be sure you know the difference before you get them done. I guess my friend was in the same predicament as you! My last piece of advice would be to go to a good quality salon. I'm sure they wouldn't rip you off there because they know that you won't come back and use their services again if they cheat you out of your money. Good luck and I hope I helped!

PS: If you find out later they ripped you off, go back to the salon and demand a refund. Why pay for something you didn't ask for?How can you tell that a nail tech is giving you gel nails instead of acrylic?
Gel nail and Acrylic nail are two different service. Gel is -- GEL after apply thin layer of gel, it need to cure under the UV light for 1-2 mins, and apply 2nd layer for stronger, and 3 layer for shiny. Acrylic nail is use the liquid and powder overlay your nail.

Gel nails and acrylic are not too different. With gel nails they apply a gel over the acrylic instead of a clear nail polish and it shines more and lasts longer than polish. May I suggest that if you get gel nails get solar gel nails. Promise you won't be disappointed. They allways look new and freshly done.
Gel nails I think require a light source to ';cure'; them.

Acrylic Nails and my thumb nail is green?

I had my nails done about two months ago and broke one today. My thumb nail is all green! What is it from and should I have my other one's removed? Also, should I not have them done again until the green on my nail goes away?

Thanks.Acrylic Nails and my thumb nail is green?
Um.. you have a fungal infection, that means that your nail couldn't breathe, so mouldy stuff grew under your nail and on your nail bed. You should have them all taken off, otherwise they'll get all weak and brittle, and your nails wont be good again :(. I bite my nails too, so i know what its like, and sometimes i have extensions, but i have china silk extensions 'cause they work better. I think you should stay away from acrylic, if you dont like your real nails then have china silk ones done. I hope this helps, my mums a nail technician, so i kinda know what i'm on about :)Acrylic Nails and my thumb nail is green?
Acrylic nails block air from getting to your real finger nails...this causes fungus to grow sometimes. I've had them make mine look pretty rough, but never green. I would get the rest removed immediately and try some of the over the counter treatments for nail fungus.
It sounds like you have a fungus on your thumb nail. Depending how bad it is, you can usually treat it with a over the counter solution. I definitely wouldn' t have them done again till it's gone.

    Good luck!
    Sorry but its fungus. :(

Have them removed and then treated. You also might want them to grow back, when I had them off they were painfully thin. :'(
go to the doctor, sounds like you may have an infection, good luck. and i would take the other ones off

Can i get an acrylic nail over a very bruised nail?

i have a very dark brown/purple/yellow bruised nail that is so disgusting. is it possible to get a fake nail on top of it? nail polish isn't covering it. i figure that the spray polish they use is much more dense and will cover anything up. Can i get an acrylic nail over a very bruised nail?
It isn't advisable......... You need to let your nail heal before you put anything artificial over it.

By putting a fake nail over your bruised nail you can cause more harm and could even lose your nail.

How do you take acrylic nails off? can you use nail remover?

well i got acrylic nails for winter break about 2 weeks ago, so now they look pretty crappy, and they are really annoying. i asked my friend how to get them off and she said that you could go to the nail place, or i could get nail remover and soak them off.

so the question is can i use nail remover instead of acetone or not? help please. How do you take acrylic nails off? can you use nail remover?
you need to use acetone. a nail polish remover with acetone might work. How do you take acrylic nails off? can you use nail remover?
You have to use acetone. Regular nail polish remover will not work. It takes FOREVER though... If you're impatient, you might want to spend a little money and get them removed by the person who did them for you.
yes only if it has acetone base
You can go to Walmart (or somewhere like it Walgreens, target, etc.) and get acrylic nail remover (it says it on the bottle). It takes a long time, but it's worth it.
all i can say is be careful besause if your not you could rip your nails right off

fake nails arent good for you anyway
Take a look where they sell fake nails. There should be special remover for fake nails. You'll have to soak them for a while to soften them, but they will come off eventually.
No! plz dont use the regular nail remover just wait for the nails to grow and u can take them off.
i would go to the nail place. but it would cost to take them off. i just ripped mine off, but then i realized it was a mistake. so i just got mine done again. %26amp; realized i wont do that again.
OK soak them in acetone then as soon as you are successful in removing one nail tip take that one and run it underneath the other nails to help speed up the process and yes your nail bed will be a little bit sore for awhile good luck i am a cosmetologist and nail designer
Definately use acetone. it will take a long time to take them off though. soak your fingernails for 10 minutes, take them out and wipe them gently with a paper towel to slowly remove the nails. You can also buy acrylic nail remover cheap from stores.
Use warm water and mix with acetone, soak fingers in a bowl
soak them in warm water when they start peeling then u know its working

help ladys, so im starting to do my nails on my own but every time i use my brush n i dipp it in the liquid acrylic then in powder acrylic i use it and then when im done with it i clean it with acetone and it still gets hard, so my question is what am i doing wrong can a nail tech help me please thanks any tips fell free.Nail tech i need help, what should i do when my brush for acrylic nail keeps getting hard?
I can't answer your ? but i would LOVE to do my own nails as well. Is it pretty easy?? And where do u get all the things u need to do your own?Nail tech i need help, what should i do when my brush for acrylic nail keeps getting hard?
I usually just make sure that between nails, i wipe the brush off on a paper towel. Usually you can see the acrylic build-up. Afterwards, i will soak (don't know if you are supposed to do this, professional wise, but i do it and it doesn't hurt my brushes) the brushes in straight acetone polish remover. i use Onyx professional 100% pure acetone that i get from wal-mart for about $5.00. There is also a smaller one for about $1.00. when i soak my brushes in the acetone the build-up comes of in a ball.

    To answer jill:

I get all my stuff from Wal-mart. I will get a kiss (the brandname) set. You may want to hit Sally's beauty supply up and get a dappen dish. Pour your liquid monimer in there and use it that way. Keep wiping off your brush between nails, and make sure that the nails you buy fit you correctly. you don't want water getting underneath!

I wish you both luck! And practice and be patient! I had to learn that the hard way!
hey so ive been doing my own nails for years. and when my brush gets hard i put it in boiling water. but if you got a cheap brush it will probably wreck it. but if you got a good brush do it. it works

They do have polish that protects your nails from the sun. Make sure you get the tanning lotion off your hands right after applying it. That way it won't set into your nails and make them discoloured.Does anyone know how to keep sunscreen from effecting nail polish/acrylic nails?
I learned the hard way that the chemical(s) would turn the color. Yeah, your best bet would be either to wear gloves the next time you put some on, or you could have someone else put it on you.
    Hi dear,

I would suggest that every time you use sunscreen lotion, to put on that rubber gloves the doctors use when they operate on someone - that thin elastic type gloves, then your nails will be save and sound. That's the only answer I have to your question, go to your local chemist, they should keep them in stock. Good luck and keep the good nails looking great, it cost a lot of money to get them that way.

my best friend has the same problem, this sounds gross but she gets some oil, corn oil from the kithcen, and rubs it all over her hands, forming a kinda waterproof coat, then she uses her sunscreen, and immediately washes her hands with ';grease fighting'; soap...like dawn or whatever other brands...

Is there any way to remove acrylic nail tips without going back to the salon?

Yes, but it sucks...at the drug store you should be able to buy an acetone acrylic nail remover...if your nails are loose it works better, but if they're not...they're hard to remove...and the acetone dries the sh*t out of your fingers...good luck!Is there any way to remove acrylic nail tips without going back to the salon?
Soak them in Acetone (nail polish remover). But don't use Non-Acetone nail polish remover. It won't work. The acetone will melt the plastic. Apply acetone to cotton and put on each finger, then wrap in foil and heat (not too hot!!!) with the sun or warming mitts. This will soften them and they should peel off nice. Just be carefull and take your time. FYI...Acetone takes off band-aid marks also and the yellow stuff they put on before you have surgery. Is there any way to remove acrylic nail tips without going back to the salon?
lol wait for awhile then pick them out yourself.
Acetone is supposed to work but takes forever. You can take a fresh nail tip and slide it under the nail to pop it off. This is how they do it at the salons most of the time.

I bite mine off but can't recommend that.
do what i do, wait to get a fill for 1 month, and they will start to lift and chip off, then pick and bite at them, then use another fake nail underneath and lift, which hurts alittle. or soak in acetone for a long time, they will get mushy and then you scrape them off. the next time i always say i will get a fill every two weeks, but never do......
Its better to go back to saloon they will help you out in much better way....
I don't recommend it, but the first poster was correct - soak them in acetone nail polish remover.
    acetone nail polish remover
first cut the tips as low as possible. then soak them in acetone artificial nail remover. it will take a long time and it is a gummy mess, but pulling the dry nails off will rip off many layers of your natural nails.
Soak in acetone for 5 min, then buff them off --repeat
Soak them in nail polish remover that contains acetone. They will soften up and eventually you can get them off yourself.
Yep use acetone nail polish remover, u'll have to soak them for a bit as they soften you can remove them, Be aware you'll still damage your own nail but not near as much if u just rip them off.
Now, you can remove the acrylic yourself, even thow it is not the best way.

Soak some cotton balls with acetone and place one over each nail then wrap each fingertip with a little bit of aluminnium foil, leave for 20 min then remove rubbing the cotton ball over the nail to scrub the melted acrylic off. If necessary repeat with clean cotton balls. If your nails are left dull use a 3 way buffer to give them shine the use plenty of lotion or cuticle oil to moisturize because the acetone is very drying for the nails and surrounding skin.
Nail polish remover w/Acetone. It will take awhile...
soak them in nail polish remover with acetone.
There is acrylic nail remover you can buy at a drugstore. You can find it in the nail section of the cosmetic aisle. It's a lot cheaper than the salon.
They make a fale nale remover you just got to look a while to find it
Clip the tips (length) down as far as you need. Get some pure acetone from any store that sells regular polish remover. Take some aluminum foil cut into squares, and some cotton balls.

Wet the cotton ball with acetone, lay it on the nail and cover with the foil, as tight as possible. Repeat all 10 nails or one hand at a time. Do not peek or open the foil for at least 20 minutes, then one at a time, remove the foils and with a wood pusher - orange wood stick- scrape the acrylic off.. it should come right off.. you can repeat if some traces are left. If you peek, the acrylic will start to harden immediately, so it's best to be patient :)

When you get it all off make sure you give your self a healthy dose of some good hand cream as the acetone is very drying to the surrounding skin.

    Hope this helps ~

Do i have a nail fungus under my acrylic nail?

i've been wearing acrylic nails off and on for two years. recently when i got them done, i noticed a small dark spot on the corner of the pink part of my pinky nail. that is gone, but part of the pink part of my nail is like a white-ish color. oh i smelt it one day %26amp; it kinda smells like mildew. ew. is this a fungus?Do i have a nail fungus under my acrylic nail?
It sounds like it is a fungus if it is dark and has a foul smell. I would get them removed and let it heal, maybe buy an OTC fungus remover or get an oral prophylatic from your doctor.

Also if you decide to get them doen again, don't skimp and go to the cheap place, go to an actual salon where they use sterile tools/equipment each time.

You will know the equipment is sterile because it is shrinked wrapped and unwrapped fresh for each client.

GOOD LUCK!Do i have a nail fungus under my acrylic nail?
Here are some ways that may help you to prevent fungal infections:

鈥?Keep your feet dry, avoid constant moisture

鈥?Avoid nonporous, closed shoes made of synthetic materials

鈥?Wear absorbent socks, preferably cotton or wool

鈥?Wear water-proof sandals when public showers

Also, after showering or swimming, dry your feet completely with a clean towel. Keep your nails cut short.

Additionally, if you are going to a salon for a manicure or pedicure, be selective about the salon and how they sterilize their instruments. Never borrow or lend nail files, emery board, nail clippers, etc.

Avoid artificial nails, as they tend to have a negative impact on nails.

Be sure to wash you hands with soap and hot water after touching your nails or someone else's nails.
Probably. It is usually like a little greenish spot. The nail place can fix that for you. It also happens if you don't get a fill for a while. The next time you do there might be like water or whatever and then it will become fungus.
Yes it is nail fungus, most likely cause by water getting trapped under your nails. If it doesn't get any worse you should be ok, but if it does you will need to take them off for a little while.
I think you should take them off just to be on the safe side

I'm a Nail Tech. Nail fungus is a Contra Indication as we call it which means us Professional Nail tech's should not touch it so even if you wanted to get the nail removed we wouldn't be aloud to due to ifection and so on... Any Nail tech that is properly Trained would not perform any treatment on that finger even hand in some cases

As me personal without the professional additude i would remove the nail using Acetone soak a cotton bud place on the nail and wrap with foil away from the fungus then scrap with a orangewood stick Sorry but its going to have to be removed..!

I know this doesn't answer your question but for your safety go to your local GP Before it spreads..How can I get rid of a nail fungus without taking my acrylic nails off?

What are the effects of acrylic nail solution and bleaching solutions on the brain and liver?

not good, are you a nail tech breathing fumes or a huffer? What are the effects of acrylic nail solution and bleaching solutions on the brain and liver?
well if you swallow it, then see a doctor, you might have an unset stomach for a day or two... but those are common chemcials found in most everyday cleaners... so and adverse side effects of long term exposure are little to none.

Wen I get acrylic nails done, why does my real nail lift from my nail bed? Is it some type of bacteria?

Every single time i get my nails done, my real nail which is under the powder, lifts from my nailbed. It scares me because it looks like my whole nail is about to fall off!! Please do not be confused, my acrylic nail is not lifting from my REAL NAIL, its my real nail lifting from my nail bed.Wen I get acrylic nails done, why does my real nail lift from my nail bed? Is it some type of bacteria?
You have some sort of allergic reaction to the acrylic. You should stop getting your nails done all together. If your natural nail lifts up from the nails bed, one day it will come off and a new nail wont grow.Wen I get acrylic nails done, why does my real nail lift from my nail bed? Is it some type of bacteria?
I have the same problem with my nails, last night i took my acrylic off and my nails lifted too. Its not bacteria, its just your nail peeling.

Is there any other ways that you can remove nail polish from acrylic nails besides going to the nail shop?

because sho'nuff regular nail polish aint workin' for me. plus, its taking forever. is there any nail polish removers for acrylic nails at stores, like walgreens or anything?

thankss! =]Is there any other ways that you can remove nail polish from acrylic nails besides going to the nail shop?
You have to buy what they call ';Non- acetone'; polish remover. It will take the polish off without harming the acrylic. If you want to remove the acrylic nails, then you use the ';acetone'; and it sorta melts it off.

You can buy the non-acetone remover in any store. It is the department with the nail items. Including the regular polish remover. Just be sure to get the right one. The regular polish remover has acetone in it and will make a mess on your nails and will not get the polish off.

Hope this will help........lol :)Is there any other ways that you can remove nail polish from acrylic nails besides going to the nail shop?
yeah, if you soak your nail in nail polish remover [non acetone] it should come right off, you might have to rub a bit,

or you can try filing the top of your nails with a nail filer.
i stopped using regular nail polish remover years ago, it takes forever even on real nails

use pure acetone. its usually with all the nail products right in the drugstore and its what they use in salons. be careful, though. only use it outside or in a well ventilated place. it is a chemical after all
    Just use a grinder
yes there is ... and you can find it in any beauty supply...
I use any cheap nail polish remover without acetone. It comes off just as easly as it comes off without acrylic nails.
    Pure acetone.

Is it ok to put regular nail polish on top of acrylic nails?

I got acrylics awhile ago and they are starting to grow out, I dont' want to get them filled but I dont want to ruin my nails by taking them off, so i'm just going to leave them on till my nails completely grow out , then cut the acrylics off.

My question is. is it ok to put regular nail polish on top of the acrylic???Is it ok to put regular nail polish on top of acrylic nails?
Yes, you can poilsh any acrylic nails. But, since acrylic is a porous materail, it will stain easily from polish, especially the darker shades. To prevent this, use a good quality basecoat prior to applying the polish.

As for removing the polish, if you use non-acetone polish remover, your nails will be fine. In fact, even using acetone to remove the polish is fine, as long as you do NOT leave it on very long. In other words, you would remove the polish, and then immediately wash your hands to take any acetone off of your nails. Acetone works the best, and many nail techs, including myself, use it on acrylic nails all the time. But, if you leave it on for any longer than absolutely necessary, then yes, it will damage the acrylic.

Thus, I would suggest non-acetone remover for home use.Is it ok to put regular nail polish on top of acrylic nails?
Yeah, use a clear base coat first though.
yes but it will look like crap, they can soak off your nails if you go to a salon...or buy nail polish remover with acetone ( make sure you get the normal...not anything that says non acetone or it wont work) but take a cotton ball soak it in the nail polish remover, put it on top of the nail cover each one with foil and let it sit for about 30 minutes, the acetone will eat the acrylic, and you should be able to scrap off any excess
Yea i got my nails done all the time and if they started to grow out or i didnt liek the color id take it off with some nail polish remover...they make a special kind for those if you wanna play it safe...but it worked fine for me.
yes!Just make sure to use non acetone nail polish remover
Yeah, but sometimes it looks like a shitty job.
yeah but you cant remove the nail polish after youve dont that or you will ruin th top layere of acyrilic

When and how are acrylic french nail tips reapplied?

I have french nail tips done about a month and half ago and they are now growing out past the end of my finger tips. Do they have to remove the old acrylics first or can they just put the new tips on? Any help would be grateful and appreciated. When and how are acrylic french nail tips reapplied?
Yon need to keep your nails maintained on a regular basis. For most people, that means getting fills every 2 to 3 weeks. NOT after a month and a half. Why bother having nails if you aren't going to take care of them. Whatever - thats your problem, not mine. I don't quite understand what you mean when you say ';can they just put the new tips on?'; What do you mean, remove the plastic tip and replace it? If so, that isn't how it's done. I mean, somebody who has no clue how to do nails might try that, but if they have any skill whatsoever they will do what is called a backfill, or better known as a rebalance. This is a normal fill plus the acrylic on your free edge is filed down most of the way - including some of the pink in order to place white acrylic on your nails and create a new smile line on your nail in the original position which should be right at the point where your free edge begins. They do this because, as you mentioned, the white is now grown out, along with the rest of the nail, and it needs to be essentially set back into it's proper position on the nail. I hope I'm explaining this OK. If the tech is not doing what I just described, and ios either replacing the entire tip, or is removing all your nails and starting over, then your tech lacks the skills necessary to do this properly. Its not a simple thing to do a backfill. It takes some skill to do it, and do it right. If your tech cannot do one, then I suggest leaving that salon and finding someone with the necessary skills. And you may want to have sculpted nails put on the next time since they are so much better than the use of plastic tips. Anyone can use tips. It takes a real tech with skill to sculpt a nice set of nails, and it looks way better too.
